Tim Bainey Jr. and the Aaron’s Dream Team Have Tough 27th Place Finish at Iowa

Tim Bainey Jr. and #00 Aaron’s Dream Team looked to be in good shape at lap 100 of the “Race 2 Recovery 225” at Iowa Speedway Saturday Night, but a fuel pickup problem would drop them to a 27th place finish in the 2nd event of the Championship Chase.

“It’s a really tough way to start out the Championship Series for our Aaron’s Dream Team,” said Tim Jr. “We were on a roll throughout the regular season, but we’ve had 2 pretty tough finishes in these last 2 events. There’s not much you can do about it, but that doesn’t make it any easier.”

“I’m not sure exactly what happened, but the car shut off and we couldn’t get it to pick any fuel up into the carburetor,” Tim Jr. went on.

“We had a pretty good car, I was just riding along for the first 100 laps… I think we got as high as 10th at one point, but it was one of those nights that you just needed to be around at the end.”

“We had a good plan, but - - what can you say. It’s racing. I’m just really proud of our Aaron’s Dream Team, you’re going to have these kinds of things happen once in awhile.” Tim Jr. said as he went back to talk things over with his crew.

The 27th place finished dropped the dream team back to 27th in the Championship Chase Standings, although they are still only 50 Points behind the 11th place position.

“It hurt our points,” said Tim Jr. “But we still have 2 of these to go. Our goal is still to get back up inside the top-10. We’ll have to work at it, but I know if we get 2 good finishes our Aaron’s Dream Team will be right back up there.”

You can watch the “Race 2 Recovery 225” from Iowa Monday September 29th at 4:00pm on the Versus Network.
